Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2025

MarketEcho AI (the “Service”) includes our website and the MarketEchoAI Chrome Extension (the “Extension”). This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have. If you use the Extension or website, you agree to this policy.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • Our public website located at marketechoai.com (the “Website”), and
  • The MarketEchoAI Chrome Extension available through the Chrome Web Store (the “Extension”).

What we collect

1) Account and authentication

  • Account details you provide (e.g., email address) and optional profile information from Google if you sign in with Google (name, email, profile photo).
  • Authentication tokens generated by our identity provider (Firebase Authentication). Limited state such as is_logged_in and user_info may be stored locally in your browser/Extension to keep you signed in.

2) Content you choose to analyze

  • Webpage text and metadata from the active tab when you click “Analyze.”
  • PDFs and documents you open in the browser or upload for analysis.
  • Media you submit for transcription or summarization (e.g., YouTube captions/text, audio you upload).

We process this content to produce summaries and related outputs you request. We do not sell this content and we do not use it for advertising.

3) Technical, device, and usage information

  • Device fingerprint generated in the Extension solely for fraud and abuse prevention, rate limiting, and quota enforcement. This is a pseudonymous identifier; it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
  • Diagnostics and usage such as feature interactions, errors, performance metrics, and request timing to maintain and improve the Service.
  • Downloads: if you export content (e.g., save a PDF), we use the Chrome downloads permission to write that file locally at your request. We do not download files in the background.

How we collect data

  • User-initiated access: The Extension requests <all_urls> host permission to ensure on-demand access works reliably across websites and PDFs. We do not auto-crawl or collect in the background. Content is accessed only when you interact with the Extension (e.g., click “Analyze”).
  • Active tab context: When you request analysis, the Extension reads from the active page (including same-page frames) to gather the content required to fulfill your request.
  • Uploads: If you upload a file or provide a URL, we process the content you submit to deliver the features you selected.

How we use data

  • Provide core features such as summarization, comparison, history per tab/session, and exports you request.
  • Authenticate you, maintain your session, and enforce usage limits (free and paid tiers).
  • Secure the Service, including prevention of abuse, fraud, and misuse (using pseudonymous device fingerprinting).
  • Operate, maintain, and improve performance and reliability.
  • Provide support and communicate important updates.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

When we access page content

  • We do not collect or transmit page content unless you initiate an action (e.g., click “Analyze”).
  • We do not run persistent background page scraping. The content script runs at page load to enable features, but analysis happens only on your request.
  • For PDFs and embedded frames, host permissions ensure processing works without repeated prompts.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We share limited data with service providers strictly to operate the Service:

  • Identity and authentication: Google Firebase Authentication to sign you in.
  • Backend processing: Our APIs and cloud functions (e.g., on Google Cloud) to process content, apply quotas, and produce outputs.
  • Email delivery: A transactional email provider to send account or service emails when needed.
  • Libraries: Local libraries such as PDF.js and Tesseract run within your browser. We use an open-source device fingerprinting library to generate a pseudonymous identifier locally; we do not share that identifier with advertising providers.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.

Data retention

  • Account data: retained while your account is active and as needed for legal/compliance requirements.
  • Content you submit: retained only as needed to provide the requested feature (e.g., generate a summary). Some features provide tab- or session-scoped history so you can revisit recent outputs; you can clear this history from within the Extension where available.
  • Diagnostics and security: retained for a limited period to maintain security, detect abuse, and troubleshoot issues.

Your choices and controls

  • Chrome site access: You can restrict the Extension’s site access from Chrome’s Extensions settings (e.g., “On specific sites” or “On click”). Limiting access may require you to re-authorize site access when you use the Extension.
  • Clear history: Where provided, use the Extension’s clear-history option to remove recent tab/session summaries.
  • Access, correction, deletion: Contact us to access or delete account data. If you remove the Extension, any local Extension storage is deleted by Chrome.
  • Email preferences: You may opt out of non-essential emails. Service and transactional emails may still be sent.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect data, including transport encryption (TLS) and secure infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we continuously work to protect your data.

International transfers

We may process data in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate protections for international transfers.

Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, if changes are material, provide additional notice where required.
